Movies I’d Like To See
Usually over the holidays I go the the local movie theatre and watch one of the blockbusters of the season. This year, I didn’t. Not because I didn’t want to, but I was busy with other things and I’m getting a lot pickier about how I spend my valuable time.
There are 3 movies I would really like to see but I will probably wait until they come out on DVD:
- The Curious Case of Benjamin Button – Brad Pitt is a babe. Pure and simple. He’s a not a bad actor either but Cate Blanchett is fantastic in any movie she’s acted in. So though the storyline is not exactly my cup of tea, I’m curious to see the chemistry between Pitt and Blanchett. Should Angelina be worried?
- Valkyrie – I don’t really like Tom Cruise. I think he’s a bit of an egomaniac. But in this film I think, from what I’ve seen in trailers, he is superb. I’m not big on war movies either, but this storyline intrigues me.
- Doubt – I love Meryl Streep. She’s simply brilliant and I would watch any movie she’s in. The subject is controversial and of course I don’t want to get into religious debates with anyone, so I may decide not to see this one so that I can remain quiet about a subject that can cause me to be upset.
Did you see any movies over the holidays? Were they any good?

Hey Karen, Happy New Year! My daughter Jen (17 yrs old) saw the Brad Pitt movie and was very disappointed. She said it was long and predicatable – I guess since the outline of the movie is given away in the commercials. Funny thing is, when I was in my Community Services Worker class earlier this week, a fellow student also mentioned that her 17 year old daughter saw this movie and was also disappointed! Is it the age? Perhaps the theme is too advanced for their young minds?
As for me, I want to see Desperaux – the story of the fearless little mouse! I am hoping to see it this weekend – will let you know when I do.
Shalom!

Hi Sally! Happy New year to you, too! I think perhaps it is the advanced theme. I never pictured it as a movie for teens.
Desperaux looks hilarious. I think we need more light-hearted movies. I guess that is why Marly & Me is doing so well.
