The Hobbit Movie Craze
The Lord of the Rings fans are already buzzing about the movie The Hobbit which will be directed by Guillermo Del Toro and produced by Peter Jackson and Fran Walsh.
There are many rumors surrounding the movie which is to be released in 2011-2012, including the fact that Ian McKellan will once again be cast as Gandalf, and Andy Serkis as Gollum. Supposedly there will be 2 movies. The second one will bridge the gap between the events in the Hobbit and the 60 or so years before The Lord of the Rings. In the second movie, perhaps we will see Viggo Mortensen cast as Aragorn again as he hunts for Gollum. I sure hope so. I couldn’t picture anyone else in the role, nor could I see anyone else replacing Ian McKellan.
Update April 23, 2009: The format of the movies has now been confirmed. The Hobbit will comprise of 2 movies and won’t include the 60 years prior to the Lord of the Rings.
I do hope that they stick as close as possible to the storyline in the book, The Hobbit. With Peter Jackson and Fran Walsh producing the film, I’m expecting this to be a great movie.
