It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas

Woman walking in snow stormFor the past few years we’ve had a green Christmas here in the Niagara Region of Southern Ontario. Last night and today a huge winter storm has dumped record amounts of snow mixed with freezing rain making driving treacherous throughout the region.

In Toronto, over 100 flights have been cancelled, over 400 accidents have been reported, and police are warning people to stay off the roads.

Snow has been falling all day and we’ll more than likely have to plow our driveway again tonight after spending hours getting most of it cleared this afternoon. Fun, wow! The weather has actually gotten worse because the winds have picked up so now it’s blowing the snow and creating lovely snow squalls.

My teenage son is hoping for a snow day tomorrow. Hmmm, that remains to be seen since the storm is expected to fizzle out here sometime overnight as it moves into Eastern Ontario, Quebec, and the New England states.

Will we have a white Christmas finally? Again that remains to be seen as we’re expecting the temperatures to rise by mid-week and it’s supposed to rain. Oh joy! A slushy mess is what’s supposed to be in store for us. For now, I’ll enjoy the pristine winter wonderland that looks gorgeous this time of year at night when all the Christmas lights are lit.

We’ve had only a few days of frost overhere. But it was cold enough in the parks to get some ice on the waters. Enough for me to get a nice new logo on my site.

Happy Christmas and Merry Newyear, Karen.
