I, Karen Blundell, am the sole owner of karenblundell.com and send mail via karen [at] karenblundell [dot] com. The emails that I send are sent from my server and domain, on a US reseller account within a block of a specific IP address, and/or from my desktop using Thunderbird and the household Canadian ISP account.
IP addresses are traceable and no matter who tries to get me blacklisted by spamming and/or spoofing my email account, please be advised that I’m doing everything I can to stop and report these scumbags.
I do NOT market pharmaceutical products. Emails that appear to be sent from my domain are being sent out with FROM lines such as: “VIAGRA (c) Best Supplier” and the subject is “Visitor karen’s personal 80% OFF” and many variations of this subject. All of them have my email address embedded in the “sent from” area.
Though I’m taking steps to rectify the problem, I would ask my family, friends, clients, and subscribers to please add my email address to your whitelist, just in case. If you’re not sure who the sender is, always check your full header of the email message. Use a Whois IP Address and Domain Lookup service and enter the IP address you see in the header and enter that value in the search and click “Whois”. Isn’t it interesting?
I wish you all a very good day and thank you for visiting.
Sincerely,

I think it is time that I start putting my health in my own hands, by making lifestyle changes, some of them small but significant, some of them huge and difficult.
One of the hardest things I ever did was to quit smoking over 2 years ago now, after smoking about a pack a day for nearly 40 years. I did it without using chemicals: no prescription drugs, no patches, no special gums. I quit cold turkey. I drank lots of water and tea, and I still have my two cups of coffee in the morning.
I thought that would be really hard – no cigarette with my morning coffee – but because somehow I was ready to quit, I didn’t have any problems after about a week when the mood swings calmed down.
Before I quit, I began to smell myself, which was really strange because most heavy smokers can’t tell that they have a permanent cigarette odour even if they shower regularly, like I do.
Fortunately, I did not put on any extra weight after quitting smoking. Many people fear the weight gain, but it really wasn’t an issue. I should lose some weight anyway, but I have been this weight now for about 9 years, since moving to Niagara.
That brings me to another lifestyle change I need to make. You see, I never needed to have a car when I lived in Scarborough, ON. The public transit system is excellent, and I did a ton of walking. I was fit.
Here in Welland and all the Niagara Region, you need a car. Everything is so spread out, public transportation is not as good, and taxis cost a fortune.
My son is in excellent shape because he doesn’t have a car yet, so if one of his buddies or I don’t drive him, he walks or cycles everywhere. So I realize that walking would be the best thing for me to slim down again and in summer I’ll go back to swimming regularly. I already have a treadmill in my office. I have no excuse. Not really.
However, it doesn’t help that I work and sometimes play on this computer. So now I am making it a point to get up every two hours and spend at least five minutes on the treadmill during the winter months. And come spring, I’m going to find a walking partner. Because I really do like the outdoors, but I prefer to have a companion with me when I walk.
The other small but really significant change for me is I’m slowly switching to organic and local foods. We have a lot of farmers around the Niagara region and some really good wineries too
, and so I’ve just recently decided I’m going to start supporting local businesses a lot more.
The most important reason I have for taking more control over my own health is because I’m no longer trusting the main stream medical profession. I think the pharmaceutical companies control modern medicine and it’s all become rather fraudulent. I know a lot of people will disagree and so I won’t even argue with anyone about it. It is what it is.
So I realize that I have to stay informed, use my own intuition, start listening to my own body, begin controlling my stress, begin eating better, and exercising more. Thus I will embrace natural health.

Always direct your thoughts to those truths that will give you confidence, hope, joy, love, thanksgiving, and turn away your mind from those that inspire you with fear, sadness, depression.

As much as I love WordPress, this is getting real old fast. One of the best things to happen for users was the one-click upgrade from within your WordPress dashboard. However, for both Wordpress 2.9 and 2.9.1, I’ve had to manually upgrade. And judging from what others have posted over at WordPress.org forums, I’m not the only one.
Up until WordPress 2.8.6, the automatic upgrade worked perfectly. Of course there were a few plugins that I had to replace along the way, but that is to be expected because plugin developers are always playing catch-up with the WordPress devs.
I’d really like to know why the automatic upgrade is not working for a lot of us and I hope to get some answers soon before the next upgrade. Now I have several blogs to upgrade, and you know, I’m in no hurry to subject myself to the hassle. (end rant)
Update: Well, I tried something today to see if it would solve the problem…and it sort of did, so my problems are likely because of an older database, which I repaired. I did the repair on 3 other blogs, and though the one-click upgrade still stalled, it eventually worked. I did have to keep deleting the “maintenance” file…so it’s still a bit glitchy, but this must be a server-side and not a WordPress bug.

One of the ways to make sure you carry through with your goals and resolutions for 2010 is to get yourself motivated. I do it by reading and speaking affirmations out loud, I search for motivational quotes, listen to soothing music, and all these things put me in a positive frame of mind. And when we think positive, anything’s possible!
