The Importance of Consistency in a Website

Posted by Karen - November 20th, 2008

A high-quality web site implements consistent typography throughout the site. This gives the site polish, and a professional appearance. There is a reason why most high-quality corporate sites use the traditional black text on white background for the site’s main content. That is because savvy webmasters know that the visitor has an easier time reading black or very dark text on a white or light background.

If visitors have a positive experience on your site, because your site is easy on the eyes, is consistent, is easy to navigate, then they are more likely to stay on your site, bookmark it to return later, and ultimately upgrade from readers to buyers.

Remember, if you design your site for your potential target market and not for yourself, your site has a better chance of being successful.

Lose Those Negative Phrases In Our Lives

Posted by Karen - November 7th, 2008

Here’s the most negative phrase we all often say:

I have to work hard

Everyone thinks they have to "work hard" in order to achieve their vision of success. In my opinion, the phrase "I have to work hard", immediately puts you in a frame of mind of immense struggle, stress, sacrifice, all work, no play…

NO! That’s not living. Lose that negative phrase. If you want to work for yourself you have to be willing to change a lot of your thoughts. And the biggest and most important change is to rid yourself of limiting beliefs. Like that the only way to get ahead is by struggling.

You need to take time to play! And you really need to change those thoughts. Those thoughts that threaten your happiness.

Why not say to yourself instead:
"I have to work smart" ?

Much better, right?

or, why not:

"I have to work because it makes me feel alive and I love what I do"?

Put up your hands. How many of you are doing what you love?

Hmmmm…

Yes, more and more people are starting to work for themselves. Because that is true freedom. But let me give you a small pearl of wisdom, if I may:

Whatever you decide to do to earn a living, don’t do it for the money. Do it because you love it. And the money will come to you. Believe that!

Enjoy your weekend!

Take a Break, Turn Up Your Speakers, and Daydream

Posted by Karen - November 6th, 2008

I love finding these kinds of videos. I tend to worry too much, so taking time to quiet my thoughts, listening to these soothing sounds and looking at beautiful images calms me, and then I regain my focus. I hope you get the same benefits from watching this video as I did. Enjoy!
