Things Are Looking Up on the Home Front

My bathroom has been freshly painted - woohoo! and it looks awesome!

Now all that’s left to paint are the doors and drawers of the bathroom vanity and we’re done.

Well almost…

We did emergency renovations to the bathroom when we bought the house but didn’t have the time to finish painting the bathroom on the main floor. We needed to replace the floor, the toilet, the sink, countertop and vanity right away…they were grungy and old.

Now the bathtub is old and steel and bathtubs are expensive to replace but we have a bathroom in the basement already roughed in and we hope to have it finished soon. We have a new toilet, sink and vanity, and a used jacuzzi tub that someone gave us that is in really good shape. Once we have the bathroom downstairs done and noone has to bathe or shower on the main floor, we are going to either paint the tub upstairs, or have one of those tub covers custom made for it.

Next weekend we are going to tackle the side entrance and stairway to the basement. The job requires lots of painting and re-covering the stairs.

It’s a lot of work, and the house is in disarray on weekends as we do these jobs when we can but the end result is worth it. This house is 100 times better than it was when we first took possession.

And it’s slowly beginning to feel like a real home that’s warm and inviting. :)
