Spending Quality Time Offline
Sometimes I believe I spend far too much time in front of this computer. It’s my work, and it’s even a part of my social life because I belong to some social networking sites, like Facebook and Twitter, and I play LOTRO and my characters are members of kinships and they are my virtual friends.
So when a real friend comes to visit, what a welcome change that is. A dear friend came by yesterday and she and I went for a long walk in a local park. It was really nice getting some much needed fresh air, Vitamin D, and talking face to face with someone instead of typing away on a keyboard.
I think all of us who work and play online need to find balance in our lives. We need to remember to spend time with people in the real world and enjoy nature. We are not meant to live like hermits, after all, are we?

What a good post Karen. I completely agree with you.
I do love being behind my computer, but I also love being outside and also hanging out with real friends face to face. I’m what I like to call a Geek With Social Skills
Even though we have never met in person, I do consider you a really good friend and really enjoy the time we spend talking online and even offline via phone.

Hey Karen,
It’s so easy to get lost in our work – online and offline. We do need to be reminded that there is a real world out there – so thanks for that.
This weekend I only checked emails and stats once well actually twice then we worked in the backyard. Got a lot done and actulally felt really good at the end of the day.

Hi Karen,
It’s my belief that gardening soothes the soul.
