Snazzy Wordpress Plugins

Posted by Karen - May 20th, 2006

Just when I thought I was done with tweaking this site…

I’ve just installed some cool Wordpress plugins and was able to do some tweaking to the plugins I already had.

  • Fixed ContactForm so that the CSS it wrote to the Wordpress pages is now in my main template CSS file. No more messy code!
  • Installed QuickTags for comments. Now we can click a button to insert html into the comments
  • Installed Static Home Page plugin which I will activate once I write the content for an intro page

That’s it for now. It’s a holiday weekend here in Canada so I think I will try to get in some R&R! Right! If I can tear myself away from this computer, that is.

Hehe. You’ll never be done tweaking your site. If I had a nickle for everytime I said the same thing, I’d be rich beyond my wildest dreams.

Why do you want a static homepage? I can show you how to add some static content on your home page without the need for a plugin and also keep blog entries on the home page as well if you’re interested?

    Enjoy your three day weekend.

    Hi Sean

I’m so happy to see you in here regularily..it’s really nice and encouraging, actually!

I’m just thinking about putting up a static page only because it was suggested by a fellow member from OWD.

I do have the plugin for sticky posts activated so I may just use that instead.

If you have a better suggestion or alternative, I’m also open. So please share your wisdom with me. ;-)

I check in on your site at least once a day. Feel free to poke in on my site as well. You’re always welcome over at my little place on the web :)

What was the reasoning from the other member for a static home page? You and I both know that regular updated content is much better then static content.

how did you get the smilies to work, Sean?
I’ve tried and they don’t seem to work for me…
    hmmmm…

anyway, yes, I have popped into your site but I will go again soon because I really like the way you write.

The other member thought that if I’m trying to market myself there should be static content like a sales message and that it would be more professional…but I tried that route before and the fresh content is working much better for me.
