WordPress Upgrade Went Smoothly

Posted by Karen - October 29th, 2006

Well, I just upgraded to latest version of WordPress, and so far it looks like it went smoothly. I had to upgrade one plugin and that was Dashboard Options.

Now that that is done, I think everything is as it should be. If you find anything looking wonky, please let me know.

Glad it all went smooth for you.

Version 2.1 should be coming soon too which will have feature updates.

Same for me, no problem at all with upgrading. Still I’ve posted the question ‘why should I upgrade’ when I don’t face the effects of the 50 bugs they are talking about. The upgrade has solved them they say, but the previous version didn’t bring me any trouble at all. Hopefully this version will do the same, running stable and impeccable.

    thanks, Sean :)

Marc, I felt the same as you…why upgrade when everything seemed to work so well? But if it’s more secure now, then I feel better about it. ;)

Marc: glad it went smooth for you too.

The reason you and others should upgrade is to keep with the latest stable release and security fixes. This release also have some speed improvements on the back end.

Granted, you might not experience any of the 50+ bugs that got fixed but others do. It’s based on server settings, php.ini settings and a slew of other factors which could effect your site or not effect it.

The security issues are huge and not all the fixes get listed because some do stick with older versions and we don’t want them getting hacked or a site zapped.

If you don’t mess with core WordPress files, upgrading goes smooth.
