Creating Custom Brushes In PhotoImpact

Posted by Karen - November 3rd, 2006

I ran across a great tutorial the other day for creating custom paint brushes for PhotoImpact. I’ve been using PhotoImpact for some time now but until recently, I haven’t had much time to practice using the brush tools.

I love to experiment and so what I did was create a new blank 300px x 300px canvas. Then I used Medieval Dingbats font to create a black and white .gif image to use as my brush texture. Following Dawn’s simple instructions, I played around with colors until I achieved the look I wanted. Here’s the result of one of my experiments:

I’ve since created about a dozen or so more and it’s addicting, although I think it’s better than sitting on the couch watching TV, don’t you agree?

    Hi Roshan,

Thanks for your comment. You are going to love PhotoImpact. For less than $100 it is the best deal for a graphics editor. A lot of Photoshop plugins work with it too so you can also open and edit .psd files with it. When you try it out, please let me know what you think of it.
