ViewPoint: What Makes A Good Freelance Web Designer

May 15th, 2006

In my humble opinion, a good freelance web designer should:

  • know his or her limitations
  • determine his or her target market and focus on reaching that market
  • know and implement current web standards in their work
  • have a good working knowledge of graphic design, working with color schemes, and other programming languages such as PHP
  • have a privacy policy on their website
  • build interest and trust with site visitors by providing quality and fresh content and information about themselves
  • maintain on-going relationships with clients and visitors
  • offer reasonable fees for the quality and quantity of the required work

Anyone with some graphics and coding skills can call themselves a freelance web designer. But are they worthy? You be the judge.
