I’m So Impressed With These WordPress Plugins
May 28, 2006
As a relatively new WordPress user, I find myself like a child with a new Lego building set. The plugins I’m using are all part of the construction of a terrific system that’s perfectly suited to my needs.
I am delighted at how painless it has been so far to get the plugins working the way I want them to.
Here’s what I’m using so far:
- Adhesive – Allows easy marking of sticky posts in WordPress 2.0.
- Akismet – the latest version of this great anti-spam tool for comments
- Comment Quicktags – Inserts a quicktag toolbar on the blog comment form
- Duh Gallery – Makes a gallery out of the uploaded files in the wp-content/uploads folder that are above a certain size. I’ve modified the php a little so that the output is cleaner and now validates
- Dashboard Options – Enables or disables the 3 default Dashboard RSS Feeds, allows custom messages or custom PHP to be executed in the Dashboard and enables the addition of custom RSS feeds in the Dashboard.
- Dagon Design Sitemap Generator – Generates a customizable sitemap containing all posts and pages.
- Exec-PHP – Allows PHP tags inside of your posts to execute PHP code.
- Fold Page List – Provides PHP functions to display a folding page tree
- Google Sitemaps – This generator will create a Google compliant sitemap of your WordPress blog.
- WP-ContactForm – a drop in form for users to contact you. It can be implemented on a page or a post.
I’m sure over time I may feel I will need other plugins to extend the functionality of this site, but for now I’m really happy with the status quo.

Thanks for sharing! Adhesive and the sitemap generators are plugins which I will be needing for a client.

I’m glad that you like my sitemap generator plugin, but why do you have another contact form listed instead of mine? j/k

Karen -
Given you interest in WP plugins, I thought you might find this one interesting – it turns the WP console management menu into a bit of a drop down affair, considerably speeding up navigation for an author. See: http://frenchfragfactory.net/ozh/my-projects/wordpress-admin-menu-drop-down-css. I’ve also see a “subscribe to posts” plugin that you might find useful, e-mail me for the link.

DimP, I’m glad to have helped in a small way
Aleister, oh, I didn’t know you have a contact form plugin too…I’ll have to take a look!
Danny, thanks for the link to the plugin…it looks good! I’m not sure if I need a subscribe to posts plugin, but it’s definitely worth considering.
I do like WordPress plugins and I really am very grateful to all the developers like Aleister et al for their contributions and hard work.
