A Sneak Peek at WordPress 2.5
I just took a sneak peek at WordPress 2.5, and I’m really excited. We will be getting a much more streamlined dashboard that looks easier to navigate and should load a lot quicker. It will be nice to be able to customize the dashboard to our liking.
The Write screen has had a complete overhaul and it should be a lot less confusing for new users. It has been simplified so that the most important functions are right at your fingertips and other functions are hidden away until you need to implement them.
The Manage screens have all been redesigned so that now managing posts, pages, comments, and categories use consistent interfaces making the whole task of blogging that much simpler.
Hopefully, by now, WordPress plugin authors have had ample time to fix imcompatibilites with version 2.5 so that by the time it is released, people will be eager to download and use it.

I agree .. the new backend looks neat. What I do not like so much is that they have skipped the column for page id. Some plugins require to state the relevant page ids and now it is a bit complicated to find out what the page id is. You can check it by hovering the link but this might be a problem for newbies …

well, the fact that it still hasn’t been released means that probably some more kinks had to be worked out, so hopefully the finished product will be one that we get to not have to upgrade for a bit
