WordPress 2.8.2 Upgrade Tips

July 20th, 2009

Yes, it’s time to upgrade your WordPress version again. Some people get tired of upgrading but I find it’s usually important that you do. It can get inconvenient only if you have plugins or a theme that isn’t compatible with the WordPress version you’re installing.

Whenever you upgrade, remember to always do a backup of your database first and then deactivate all of your plugins. Then do the one-click install from within your WordPress dashboard. It can take a few minutes depending on your server resources.

Once you have upgraded your WordPress installation, you go back and activate all your plugins. If you get error messages you may have to deactivate and re-activate plugins one by one until you find the one giving you grief. It can be time-consuming if you use a lot of plugins like I do. ;)

Remember, if you just don’t have the time to do these frequent upgrades or want some expert help with WordPress or other website issues, please do consider using my services. I look forward to working with you and helping you with the success of your WordPress blog.
