WordPress Anti-Spam Measures

Posted by Karen - December 18th, 2006

The number of comment and trackback spam this site is getting was really starting to get on my nerves, so I’ve spent the last few hours reading up on how to prevent spam in WordPress, and installing and testing various plugins. Most of them fell short of my expectations so I needed to find another solution.

Then I found Peter’s Useful Crap and how to re-name a couple of WordPress files. Well, I’ve done it and I’ll be monitoring my site pretty closely to see how well Peter’s solution works.

If you find any bugs while posting comments, please let me know.

thanks to my buddy Sean’s post and his usual good advice, I’ve undone everything I just did and installed Bad Behavior instead. Begone spam!

Hi Karen. Glad to be of help once again.

It’s strange seeing you be the first comment on your post.

Your comment seems more of a post edit :)

Again, as always, glad to help.

yeah, I don’t know why I commented instead of updating, Sean…it’s been a little hectic here, but I’m loving it :)
