WordPress Plugin: Viper’s Video Quicktags
I was hunting for a WordPress plugin that was flexible enough to play various video formats and that’s when I found Viper’s Video Quicktags. This is a great plugin that installs Quicktags in your WordPress editor so that you can just click a button to insert the URL of a YouTube, Google, MySpace, Metacafe and IFILM video, or even your own QuickTime movies, Windows Media player files, and also .FLW (Flash) files.
What’s even better is that the plugin author wrote the code so that it validates!
Here’s an example of the plugin at work using a Flash video of some of my Bryce 3D art experiments. One small down side is that the Flash player doesn’t show the first frame image but just a black background with a player button. Hopefully that capability is something that will get added to the next plugin upgrade.

Hi, you may want to try out Pascal Berkhahn’s “pb-embedFlash”. It has almost the same features and you can add a preview image this way:
[flash http://www.yourdomain.com/linkto/yourvideo.flv w=400 h=300 f={image=http://www.yourdomain.com/linkto/yourpreviewimage.jpg}]
It supports almost all types of videos and has a lot of extra features.
It took a bit of time reading the install instructions to understand all features and options but now I don’t want to miss it.
